On February 15, 2006, the 78th Student Union at the University of Sydney held the first annual student union conference. A student representative who is also a Falun Gong practitioner proposed a resolution supporting Falun Gong practitioners’ freedom and condemning the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong, and the resolution was passed.
The Falun Dafa contingent presented a spectacular entry of more than 150 people with waist drums, fan dancing, a float with exercise demonstrations, and ladies in beautiful traditional Tang Dynasty costumes. Afterwards, the parade judges announced that the practitioners’ contingent won the award for the “Best Themed Entry.”

The Falun Dafa Information Center has learned that Falun Gong practitioner Peter Yuan Li was assaulted and robbed by armed Asian men yesterday in his Atlanta home. Li is an information technology specialist who has been active in Falun Gong human rights advocacy over the past six years.

A directions hearing for the Falun Gong lawsuit against the Foreign Minister’s signing of monthly certificates restricting Australians’ freedom of expression, is scheduled for this Monday 30 January 2006. The case is proceeding, despite delays and appearing to be mired in yet another directions hearing.
The tribunal heard expert testimony about popular religions in China, and determined that Falun Gong constitutes a creed, and is therefore protected under Ontario’s Human Rights Code.
