September 29, 2006, the United States Congress held its first hearing on allegations of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners. Four witnesses testified at the hearing. More than 100 people, including House representatives, legislative assistants, officials and advisers from the US government, and reporters attended the hearing.
On September 28, Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Peter Mckay harshly criticized China over human rights and democracy. As reported by the BBC, this was one of the bluntest comments that the Conservative party made since it won a federal election in January.

Falun Gong practitioners continued to face arrest, detention, and imprisonment, and there have been credible reports of deaths due to torture and abuse. Practitioners who refuse to recant their beliefs are sometimes subjected to harsh treatment in prisons, reeducation through labor camps, and extra-judicial “legal education” centers, while some who recanted returned from detention.
Chinese police detained Falun Gong practitioner Yuan Sheng, a veteran airline pilot at China Eastern Airlines based in Shanghai, on August 8, 2006 at Shanghai’s Pudong Airport prior to his flight to the United States. It was because he told one of the security personnel about the persecution of Falun Gong.
On July 22, 2006, the annual Washington DC Falun Dafa Cultivation Experience Sharing Conference was held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. About 4,000 practitioners from all over the world attended this grand occasion.

Since 1999, international media has reported on the illegal, irrational and vicious persecution of Falun Gong practitioners by the CCP and since 1994 the US senate and international media has reported on the illegal organ harvesting from prisoners in China’s state-run prisons and labor camps.
Falun Gong Human Rights Working Group recently uploaded several UN reports on human rights violation against the practice in China. The persecution of Falun Gong in China is still widespread and brutal.
Former director of the Asian Pacific Division of Canada’s Foreign Affairs Ministry Mr. David Kilgour talked with Chinese Embassy officials on Friday, June 23, 2006 about entering China to investigate the CCP’s live organ removal from Falun Gong practitioners. The Chinese official was evasive and dodged responsibility.
Hon. David Kilgour, J.D., former Secretary of State (Asia Pacific) of Canada, and David Matas, international human rights lawyer, have been seeking a fact-finding trip to China after they launched an investigation into organ seizing from Falun Gong prisoners in China.
The article stated that the vice president of the European Parliament, Mr. Edward McMillan-Scott, met two Falun Gong practitioners during his trip to China and learned about the CCP’s crime of live organ removal. He strongly condemns the CCP’s systemic crimes.
